Million Parent March 2017 – August 4th, 2017

**PRESS RELEASE**

The 2017 “Million Parent March” started as a meeting of the minds among parental rights leaders and activists after Kash Jackson’s march to eleven state capitols across the US, arriving in Washington D.C. on Sept 11th, 2016. That action inspired the people to collaborate on this year’s march, which is the highlight of an epic four day program being coordinated by MPM program manager Kyle Paskewitz.  The “Million Parent March” will be held on September 18th, 2017.

The Million Parent March, is proud to announce our first featured speaker, one of our many highly respected and qualified advocates for reform of the family court system.

Mark Ludwig has over 30 years of experience in the political arena including:

  • Serving on the Missouri Small Business Policy Council
  • Candidate in a highly contested race for Missouri’s 3rd US Congressional District seat
  • Served on political campaign staffs for over 30 years which have raised over $15 million

Mark Ludwig is currently the National Legislative Liaison Director for The Fathers’ Rights Movement, the Founder of Americans for Equal Shared Parenting, has worked on numerous pieces of state legislation across the country and was a part of the team that helped pass Missouri’s ground breaking HB1550 in 2016. Mark has also served on the Board of Directors for the Angels Arms Foundation, the Board of Directors of his Chamber of Commerce in St Louis and is listed in the Cambridge “Who’s Who Among America’s Young Executives”.

Mark will be speaking about an orchestrated strategy for passing statewide shared parenting legislation across the country.  Mark will be joined by other speakers and advocates from the movement, including Kathleen Arthur, Melissa Isaak, Carlos Rivera, Connie Reguli, and many more.  The full list of speakers, a detailed schedule of events, and much more will be announced in upcoming press releases.

When is the event?

  • Sunday, September 17th, 2017 – Constitution Day Rally and Supreme Court Sit-in
  • Monday, September 18th, 2017MILLION PARENT MARCH
  • Tuesday, September 19th, 2017 – Peaceful Assembly, Legislative Meetings, and Educational Seminars
  • Wednesday, September 20th, 2017 – Peaceful Assembly, Legislative Meetings, and Educational Seminars

Where is the event?

Activities will take place all around the capitol, memorials, and legislative and judicial buildings in WASHINGTON, D.C.  The march route and specifics about where to be when will be published in a forthcoming press release as details are finalized.

How will I get there and where will I stay?

While there are many ways to get to D.C., by plane, train, or private automobile, if you need help getting to the event, people all over the country are working together to rideshare with other parents, advocates, and supporters who want to attend this historic event.  To date there are van shares driving from NY, FL, and IL, and Nick Dreeszen from IA is working on arranging buses from five different regions.  There are accommodations all over D.C. and the surrounding areas, from budget camping to high end hotels.  And we’ve even arranged discount group rates in several of the hotels in the immediate area.  We are adding new options every day, including working on a ride share tool to help connect you with others in your area who want to share transportation and/or accommodations.  See our website for more information.

What if I can’t make it?  Will there be other local events?

We are encouraging everybody to join us in D.C. and be a part of history.  Our family court system and related agencies are in desperate need of reform and we cannot wait another year.  Our children and future generations are depending on us!  If you absolutely cannot make it, we encourage you to organize and attend smaller events at your state capitols and courthouses around the country.  You can also participate in our #MillionParentMarch2017 social media hashtag campaign.  Show your support by posting a picture of yourself on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, holding a sign that says #MillionParentMarch2017.  And don’t forget to tag your post with the hashtag.  That’s it!  Show your support and help spread the word to make this epic event go viral!

Where can I get more information about this MILLION PARENT MARCH?

Up to the minute updates will be published in the form of official press releases and posted to the official MILLION PARENT MARCH website:  www.millionparentmarch2017.org

Hi Karin, currently there are some Facebook groups organizing carpools, as well as others looking into vans and buses. Join the Facebook group HERE to find some additional info. We’re also working on a tool for the website that will allow you to register and have a nearby driver contact you. Look forward to that being released very soon!

Why does this press release not reference child welfare reform? At least half of Mom’s supporters are cps/dfcs victims. If this press release hits and this is the story that goes out, it will truly divide the movement.

      Hi Michelle.

Please understand that the Million Parent March encompasses all atrocities that take place against parents. We also support CPS/DFCS abuses (and every other state funded child protection program). Please know that we support all parents that are violated via state fund abuses. We fully 100% support child welfare reform. If you have any suggestions, we would love hear from you.

I’m a victim of wrongful termination. False statements and accusations put against me. Anything I can attend in Texas? And has there been a discussion about giving parents in every state a chance to regain parental rights? And also stopping CPS from getting away with their dirty work ???

What is the true mission of the march? To stop abuse by private family courts, government family courts, or to stop abuse within the families themselves? It does not appear that women’s groups are included here.

Women’s groups are and have always been invited to work with us. Most of the organizations we work with are fairly evenly supported by both men and women. All of the different organizations involved with this event have different focuses, but the overall theme is family court reform, cps reform, foster care reform, parental rights and human rights in general.
